Speaker 1:

Welcome to Barefoot Mysteries, where your Barefoot Mystery Junkies, pat and Dave, explore the unsolved, the unexplained, the spooky and the downright weird world we live in. Welcome back everyone. I'm Pat and I'm Dave, hey Dave. Hey Pat, do you like to play games like board games and that sort of thing?

Speaker 2:

Boring games Board Board Board games.

Speaker 1:

Some games can be boring. Well, do you consider the? Have you ever heard of?

Speaker 2:

the Ouija board. I have played the Ouija board.

Speaker 1:

Ah okay, Is it evil or is it just a game?

Speaker 2:

It has all the answers? No, it does.

Speaker 1:

Well, today we are going to read a story by Gothic Gentleman 513, which he posted on Reddit. This is a brand new story that he just uploaded and I thought it might be fun to listen to. My girlfriend insisted we play with the Ouija board.

Speaker 2:

What is that little thing that you put your fingers on?

Speaker 1:

The planchette, planchette, planchette.

Speaker 2:

Okay thanks.

Speaker 1:

That's what moves around and tells you, so this one.

Speaker 2:

That's the one that reads my mind. Yes, that's it.

Speaker 1:

Yes, that's the one that talks. The spirit talks through. It's not reading its mind. That's where the spirit is speaking. Ooh, okay, okay. So back to my girlfriend insisted we play with the Ouija board. I should have said no.

Speaker 2:

Why.

Speaker 1:

Listen to the story and you'll find out. Oh, I'm right here then. Oh, come on, let's try it. Samantha pulled at the sleeve of his sweater, her huge eyes pleading.

Speaker 2:

But I don't like that stuff. It creeps me out.

Speaker 1:

He replied gazing at the box under her arm oh, don't be such a baby. It'll be fun, please For me. She pouted her lips and twirled a finger in a circle on his chest.

Speaker 2:

Okay, okay Fine.

Speaker 1:

She squealed with delight and kissed him deeply. His heart fluttered. They'd only been dating a few weeks, but he was sure he was in love. Okay, have a seat. She plopped down at the kitchen table and pulled the Ouija board from the cardboard box. He rolled his eyes and sat across from her as she lit two candles and instructed Alexa to dim the lights.

Speaker 1:

Although his faith had dried up years ago, his Catholic upbringing made the entire situation feel wrong, and that plagued him with guilt. All right, are you ready? He wanted to say no, but she looked so cute when she was excited it was impossible to turn back now. He nodded, giving in reluctantly. As they held hands, she began to say her greetings to the board, something that sounded strangely like an incantation, and then, finally, an invitation for spectral communication. He shifted in his seat uncomfortably as a chill ran up his spine. This was the first drawback I'd ever noticed from dating a goth girl. Well, he didn't want her to think he was a coward, so he placed his hands on the planchette and played along For a while. Nothing happened. He even started to feel silly for being scared in the first place, but suddenly the candles flickered violently, as if a strong wind had run through the apartment. Greg, is it you? She whispered.

Speaker 2:

Who's?

Speaker 1:

Greg, but before he could get an answer, the planchette moved in their hands to come and rest over the answer.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

He recoiled from the planchette as if it had burned him.

Speaker 2:

What the hell, sam, did you move that who's?

Speaker 1:

Greg. He could feel his heart thundering in his chest Hi, baby, I brought you a body. I told you I would. Cheers of joy streamed down her face as she looked at something over his shoulder. He spun around to see a large black figure floating through the room right towards him. He shrieked and leapt up from the table putting his back up against the cabinets. Somewhere inside him a voice screamed for him to run, but he was frozen with fear and the shadow started to press up against him. He could feel its weight as it pinned him in place, as what felt like ice filled his ears and his nostrils. He gasped for a breath, trying to catch his breath, but he could feel himself begin to drown as it filled his lungs. He felt Sam's fingers lace with his as everything went black. Now we can be together again. She said somewhere far, far away why?

Speaker 2:

Who was Greg Whoa?

Speaker 1:

people Burn the Ouija board. Burn it, burn it, throw it away, just destroy it. Don't buy one, don't bring one in the house, stay away from them. Oh man, that yeah, no.

Speaker 2:

She was using that for a little evil stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yes, so she really was goth and she wanted her dead boyfriend back and she got him and it sounds like the Ouija board in this case was pure evil.

Speaker 2:

Well, it sounds like somebody paid a big price.

Speaker 1:

Oh my gosh, see what level Duda, uh-huh.

Speaker 2:

See, he thought he was in love. Oh, especially blind love. Oh well, yeah, certainly is now, and pouty lips.

Speaker 1:

So pouty lips and fingers circling on your chest, oh Well.

Speaker 2:

She had all the moves.

Speaker 1:

That was a fun story to read. I hope everyone enjoyed that one and, as always, if you would like to have us read a certain story, if you've found a story, if you've written a story and you want us to read it, send us a line. Just drop us a line at BarefootMysteries at gmailcom. Again, that's BarefootMysteries at gmailcom and we'd love to read it on air.

Speaker 2:

What about their Ouija board?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, okay, well, hey, and if you've had experience with Ouija boards, yeah, let's hear those two, because I'd love to find out if all Ouija boards are bad, because according to movies and stories, it kind of looks like it's evil. Stuff happens, yes. So in the meantime, as always, everyone please be good to each other.

Speaker 2:

Be kind.

Speaker 1:

Do not bring the Ouija board in the house. Don't play with Ouija board.

Speaker 2:

No more Ouijis.

Speaker 1:

Yes, and let dead Greggs stay dead.

Speaker 2:

Ooh, that's a good idea.

Speaker 1:

Goodbye and see you next time.
