Speaker 1:

Welcome to Barefoot Mysteries, where your Barefoot Mystery Junkies, pat and Dave, explore the unsolved, the unexplained, the spooky and the downright weird world we live in. We're back, welcome back. Where the heck have you been? Oh my gosh. Oh, I had a fabulous, abrupt vacation in a hospital bed. You should try it. It's fabulous, lucky you. I'm going to leave that one to you. Oh my gosh, if I ever, ever, see another little cup of Jell-O, I may just jump off the planet. What flavor was it? Oh, every flavor they had. You know, I don't know. You know, everybody loves Jell-O. No, we don't. Anyway, we are back, we are excited to be back, and so, for our first episode, on my return back to the microphone We've missed everybody at the microphone. Oh yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1:

We thought a good way to kind of segue into this would be to read a short story that involves a bed. Great idea, yeah, yeah. Now, a short bed, a short, it's a short story, don't know about it? Yeah, so tonight's or today's, I should say, podcast is entitled who's Under my Bed? It is a horror short story written by, unfortunately, author unknown. I hope you enjoy it. Yes, let's do it, let's do this. I hope you don't guess the ending, a father went to say good night to his seven year old son, very well knowing that if he didn't, his son would have trouble sleeping.

Speaker 1:

It was a nightly routine between them. He entered the dimly lit room where his son was waiting under his blanket, but with the first glance the father could tell there was something unusual about his son that night. He just couldn't put his finger on on what it was. His son looked the same, but he had this thin grin that was went from one ear to the other ear. You, okay, buddy? The father asked the son. He was unnotted, still with that grin, before saying could you check for monsters under my bed? That's a reasonable request. Yeah, I think most kids have done that.

Speaker 1:

I never wanted to look under the bed. I always had, you know, I would say, somebody else. Look under the bed because, ooh, I was always afraid there was going to be somebody under there, somebody not attractive either. Yeah, get your wrong. Yeah, yeah, it wasn't like hey, one of my friends is under the bed, came to sneak over to play with me. But no, no, not so. Yeah, well, the father chuckled a little bit before getting on his knees, only to satisfy, satisfy his son. So his son would be able to go to sleep and his father could go and finish his. The coast is clear. The coast is clear, son, you can go to sleep. There are no monsters.

Speaker 1:

He bent down, looked under the bed and there under the bed was a very pale and very frightened. Was his son, his real son, under the bed. Under the bed, his son whispered Daddy, there's someone on my bed. Whoa, okay, that's it. I'm surprised he could even get that out of his mouth. Oh, okay, yeah, so what? The monster was in the bed? That poor little boy. I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I want to know what happens next. I know, is it that scary? It's kind of that's it? That's what we need to ask. All right, listeners, send us an email, tell us what you think. What was the ending? What happened next? Did the monster get them both, the big grand monster? Did the monster get the dad? Did the monster get the son? Did the dad defeat the monster? Send us an email, would you? Barefoot mysteries at gmailcom. Barefoot mysteries at gmailcom, and we will read your endings to this really cool short story on our next podcast. I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to say to us because I'm very curious, absolutely. I want to see what happens and you know what they may put the best ending on there. We may have some Stephen King type endings. Yeah, we may have a couple of different endings. That would be awesome. Well, until then, everyone, we are so happy to be back Be nice to each other, be good to each other and please check under the bed before you crawl into it. Be kind to each other.
